Thank you for stopping by. Please note that
currently this domain's primary use is not to host a web site. It's main us is
as a portal and for email services.
This site, as well as others are being hosted from a server in my home. Initially the connection started out using the phone line through DSL service (1500k/386k service which averaged about 1200k/386k). This was bought through Mindspring, which became Earthlink. The service was very good but the price was a little high and just kept going higher. I changed the connection over to cable and it's been working great. The current speed is 3000k/386k and I average about 2750k/380k (Brighthouse recently increased their download speed from 2000k to 3000k (which does not affect the web server... but it's a nice speed :) The web server is operating on it own machine running Apache software on Windows 2000.
It has been awhile since this page was updated and some things have changed. The current connection is still via cable but the speed, both up and down, has increase. Downstream (not affecting the web server) has been increased to 7000k/sec. Upstream has been increase to 515k. However, all the tests show the upstream to be closer to 600k/sec. This almost doubles the prior speed.
We have also upgraded the web server. Actually, the old system got "junked" and an entirely new server is being used. It's running Windows 2000 on an AMD 1.4Ghz CPU. Memory is still scant, at 256MB but memory usage does not seem to be a problem. The server is still running Apache Web Server as well as BulletFTP Sever. I'm also happy to say the server is running quite cool... with 2 external fan with dust filters (no nasty dust balls in this server!)
I thought there use to be a picture of the Web Server here but I guess I took it down. After all, a Web Server is not suppose to be pretty. But I'll post a few just in case you want to see them:

See, I told you it would not be impressive. Basically a huge monitor (not even needed) sitting on a a computer case. Well, what did you expect? The real "art" to the machine is Apache Web Server's configuration file. It's pretty complete. Also, the server has to run Apache Web Server, FTP Server, Dynamic IP updater, Anti-Virus Software, and Anti-Spyware programs. There are a few other programs, such as web hit counters, etc but those are relatively minor.
5/22/08 update.... Well, we've made yet another big change. Where to start... how about with what is still the same. The case on the server is the same. That is about it. We upgraded the motherboard and CPU, added a 360GB hard drive to replace the old drives and added some other hardware as well. Given that we needed to completly reinstall all the software, we upgraded to Apache 2.1 and also added MySQL database. This together with installing PHP and we've really made a huge leap forward! The board is now handling several phpBB boards that have the ability to store images inline with messages. We also recently added a 500GB external back up drive running Acronis back up software.
7/2/08 update.... We are pleased to announce that our web server speed has been increased to 2MB/sec! We've also increased the RAM on the server to 758MB. We are hoping that this will add a noticable difference in your access to the servers.
